Shuttletime Tour - Handheld
Requirements:  A handheld device running Palm OS 3.1+.  A Pocket PC version is also available for download (not shown here).
Download the software and/or schedule data files. Register to be notified by e-mail when the software or data files are updated.

1. Launch the software by clicking on the shuttle icon.  If you don't see an icon, check to make sure you installed the software ('Shuttletime.prc').

2. A list of schedule data files will appear.  For now, your only option is the Harvard Shuttle Services data.  Click on the file to load it.  If there are no files, check to make sure you installed the schedule data ('Harvard.pdb').

3. To plan a trip, select a starting point and destination (From and To).  To narrow your search for a stop, you can categorize the lists alphabetically.  By default, All stops are shown.  To plan a return trip, you can tap the Swap button to swap the To and From stops.

4. Select the desired departure time (Date and Time).  Choose to search for the Next 3 direct shuttles, All today's direct shuttles, or the Best route (if you expect to transfer between shuttles).  You can always reset the departure time to its default (the current date and time) by tapping Now.  This software handles holidays, weekends, Reading Period, and other special schedules automatically.

5. Tap Go to see the results...  If you're looking for direct shuttles, they will appear in a list organized by departure time from the originating stop.  In the example above, the next direct shuttle from Currier House to Johnston Gate is at 11:15 pm.  The next shuttles are at 11:30 pm and 11:45 pm.

6. If you're looking for the Best route, you'll see your travel itinerary (shuttle departure times and locations).  Your estimated arrival time will also be displayed.  In the example above, you need to catch the shuttle at Currier House at 11:10 am to the Science Center, then catch the Mather shuttle at the Science Center at 11:30 am.  You'll arrive at Mather House around 11:40 am.

7. You can view a shuttle's entire route by clicking on any departure time from the Results list.  The Route page will appear.

8. If you click on a departure time from the Route page, you'll see the Details for that stop.  Here you can set an alarm to remind you of the shuttle's arrival (by tapping Set Reminder).  You can choose how many minutes in advance for which to set the alarm.  Your handheld will beep, flash, and/or vibrate to remind you of the shuttle's arrival – even if you're using other software at the time or if your device if off.  To edit or remove a reminder, use the Reminder item in the Shuttletime menu.

9. There are a number of options in the Data menu.  You can access these options anytime, from any page.  You can view General Info. about Harvard University Shuttle Services, Contact Info. (helpful telephone numbers, etc.), and more...

10. The Location Details menu item, for example, allows you to view information about any stop (if available).

11. There are more features in the Shuttletime menu, including the option to submit Feedback or to Register.  If you select Register, for example, you can submit your name and e-mail address and you will be informed when new data files (or new versions of the software) are available.  Feedback and Register work the same way – they create an e-mail message on your device which is sent the next time you connect it to your computer.
